The PGA, or Professional Golfers Association, has been in existence since 1916 and currently has 28,000 members. The men and women of the PGA are career golfers as well as golf instructors. This renowned association holds the most widely recognized golf championships in the world. There are over 30 tournaments annually in which members can participate. Some of these are televised and feature well-known names like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Jack Nicklaus is another famous name who now owns his own golf course design firm. In addition to tournaments, there are many incredible PGA golf courses around the nation.
One of the finest places to play on a PGA course is at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Or, check out the Wanamaker course, which also features a variety of challenges and an incredible finishing hole. The Dye course, designed by Pete Dye, is a public course that honors the native land and incorporates aspects of the naturally occurring landscape into a the links style course.
The PGA West Stadium Course in Palm Springs is another well-known favorite of many golfers. This course is the locale for a variety of well-known events, including The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, PGA Grand Slam of Golf and Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament.
